Golden Ears Jazz Band member:

Judy Rohl

Judy plays the 'BARI' aka baritone sax. Clarinet, alto and tenor sax are all part of her repertoire but the Bari is the favourite by far. The band experience began with concert and jazz bands in school but the lack of post secondary opportunity resulted in a mmpfhh year hiatus until discovering Howard Lee's CAP Band program in 2001 and finding it's just like riding a bike - it all comes back pretty quick. Stints with CAP Jazz, the Maple Ridge Concert Band and the pit band for Archbishop Carney's productions of Bye Bye Birdie and Fiddler on the Roof has led to a great love community band involvement. Judy currently plays her Bari in Golden Ears Jazz Band, the Band of the Royal Westminster Regiment, the Vancouver Travelling Band and whenever possible with the British Columbia Regiment Band, Maple Ridge Concert Band and Maple Ridge Jazz Band. Blessed with a musical family, husband Dan and daughter Amanda play in the bands with her while daughter Heather has dropped her trumpet and euphonium playing to concentrate on choir and vocal jazz. Judy's laugh is infectious and can't be missed!
